Pop culture has experienced the loss of 3 of its greatest icons this week. I'm too young to remember when these people were actually on television or when they were stars, but the impact they made on pop culture can still be seen today.
Ed McMahon: probably best known for being Johnny Carson's sidekick on The Tonight Show. I learned within the last few days that he was also the guy that did Publisher's Clearing House. Like I said, I am WAY too young to remember any of this or have actually been around to witness any of it.
Farrah Fawcett: was one of Charlie's original Angels, even though she was only on the show for one season. Someone who has a hairstyle named after them is pretty cool in my book.
Michael Jackson: The King of Pop. This honestly shocked me. Once again, twitter proved to keep me informed of happenings around the world. I'm still waiting for someone to scream that it's all a prank to promote his new tour, it's that surreal. I honestly didn't ever think of the impact Michael Jackson had on the world of music until the news stations started running the specials on him last night. I didn't grow up in a house filled with MJ, but somehow his music still touched my life. Watching MTV last night made me realize how many of his songs I actually know. It was impossible growing up going to school talent shows to not have at least one person do "Thriller." From The Jackson 5 to his most recent hits, Michael continutes to touch music lovers of all ages, race, gender, around the world. He was one of the greats and will be missed by us all.
