If We Were A Movie...

It's safe to say that I'm addicted to movies. When I have nothing better to do on a Friday night and I have $10 to spare, I can usually be found checking out the latest release at the local theater. I've always had a taste for obscure, independent films and actors that most people don't know or recognize. Right now we're in the middle of awards season in Hollywood and I couldn't be more in love. Oscar buzz movies are always my favorites and I usually have the best picture films picked out, or at least my top 15, way before nominations are announced.

2010 is looking to be one amazing year for the film industry. I know my weekends are starting to fill up with all the new movies I want to see. Since there's so many, I might do this once a week, I'm not really sure. Right now though, I'm going to give you the top 5 films that I'm most looking forward to this spring (January-May)...

So I read this book a few months ago and was blown away. No surprise there, I mean, it IS a Nicholas Sparks original. The Notebook still makes me cry and I've seen it 10000000 times. Channing Tatum as John couldn't be a better choice. We all know that he makes one hellofa solider, just look at him here and here And boy has Amanda Seyfried come a long way since her days in Mean Girls. From doing amazing hits like Mamma Mia! to a summer romance that I'm sure will be a big hit(Letters to Juliet. She's become one amazing actress and I can't wait to see how she portrays the role of Savannah in Dear John when it hits theaters on February 5.

One of my favorite fairy tales after Peter Pan. Not only is this remake going to be in 3D, but it has 2 of my favorite people EVER in it (Johnny Depp & Helena Bonham Carter as well as being directed by the most amazing, or at least in my opinon, director...the one and only TIM BURTON! Tim & Johnny have been working together for ages and are well known for their cinema magic (Edward Scissorhands, Sweeny Todd, Corpse Bride) and I expect nothing less from them when this movie hits theaters on March 5.

all I have to say is KRISTEN STEWART!! I've been a huge fan of her work WAAAAY before she was Bella. Her indie films absolutely blow me away. She does films because she loves them, she doesn't care about the money she makes or the fame she receives. Some that I might recommend: Speak, Cake Eaters, In the Land of Women, Adventureland and those are just a few that I absolutely love. Even if the film does awful in the box office, I'll still see it because Kristen makes amazing, memorable movies and I'm really excited to see how she portrays Joan Jett.

Before you go off on a Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus filled rage/rant, hear me out.The Last Song is yet another Nicholas Sparks book turned movie. When I heard that it was coming out & that Miley was set to be the main character, I knew I had to read this book. I was completely blown away. Ronnie, who is played by Cyrus, deals with so many issues that I've struggled with. Her passion for life and those around her was something I could really relate to. I'm kinda afraid that Miley won't be able to pull it off & make it believeable, but I'm willing to see her try. The book was one that I couldn't put down. It's been a long time since I've done that with a book. I literally laid in bed all day with a box of tissues, crying. If that was just the book I can't wait to see the movie. (out April 2)

I've seen the trailer for this movie a few times and it looks like it's going to be a really good romanitc movie that I'm probably going to end up crying over. Amanda Seyfried plays a girl who goes to Italy & hears this story of a wall where people leave letters to Shakespeare's Juliet, hoping she will grant them luck in love. Sophie (Seyfried) finds one of the letters & sets our to help the author of the letter find the lvoe of her life after 40 someodd years. In the process, Sophie finds herself falling in love. Typical romance, I know, but this one looks absolutely amazing & the setting is beyond words. Look for Letters to Juliet in theaters on May 14.
